SOUTHEASTERN U.S. TODAY...
 
EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNINGS AND HEAT ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT MAINLY
ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS...LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...AND
EASTWARD INTO MUCH OF THE SOUTHEAST.  HIGH TEMPERATURES COMBINED
WITH HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO CREATE HEAT INDICES
GENERALLY BETWEEN 105 TO 115 DEGREES...DURING THE AFTERNOON

A COLD FRONT HAS PUSHED THROUGH THE CENTRAL PLAINS ON
WEDNESDAY...RESULTING IN THE AREA OF EXCESSIVE HEAT TO BE CONFINED
MAINLY IN THE DEEP SOUTH. AS AN UPPER-LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS
IN PLACE OVER TEXAS FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS...EXCESSIVE HEAT
IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN AND SOUTHEASTERN U.S.
ANOTHER COLD FRONT MOVING SOUTHWARD ACROSS THE NORTHERN AND
CENTRAL PLAINS SHOULD FURTHER DECREASE THE COVERAGE OF THE HEAT BY
THE LATTER PART OF THE WEEKEND.
