PUBLIC ADVISORY NUMBER 12 FOR REMNANTS OF GRACE
NWS HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL PREDICTION CENTER CAMP SPRINGS MD
4 AM CDT TUE SEP 02 2003

CURRENT WATCHES/WARNINGS...FLOOD WATCHES REMAIN IN EFFECT OVER A
RATHER BROAD AREA EXTENDING FROM SOUTHERN MISSOURI
NORTHEASTWARD
THROUGH SOUTHERN ILLINOIS AND THE LOWER TWO THIRDS OF
INDIANA...AND EASTWARD FROM EASTERN OHIO THROUGH THE NORTHERN MID
ATLANTIC STATES... AS MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANTS OF
GRACE EXTENDS NORTHEASTWARD ALONG A STATIONARY FRONT DRAPED
ACROSS THIS REGION. 

AT 4 AM CDT...09Z...THE REMNANTS OF GRACE WERE CENTERED NEAR
LATITUDE 34.9 NORTH...94.2 WEST...OR ABOUT 75 MILES WEST
NORTHWEST OF HOT SPRINGS ARKANSAS. 

THE REMNANTS OF GRACE HAVE MERGED WITH A STATIONARY FRONT WHICH
EXTENDS FROM EAST CENTRAL TEXAS NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE
LOWER
TO MID MISSISSIPPI VALLEYS AND THEN EASTWARD THROUGH THE OHIO
VALLEY AND THE NORTHERN MID ATLANTIC STATES. THE REMNANTS OF
GRACE ARE NOW MOVING EAST NORTHEASTWARD AT ABOUT 5 TO 10 MPH AND
ARE EXPECTED TO TRACK GENERALLY NORTHEASTWARD ALONG THE FRONT
OVER THE NEXT 12 TO 24 HOURS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS IN SOME
HEAVIER SHOWERS...MAINLY NORTH AND EAST OF THE CENTER. THE
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 29.88 INCHES...1012 MB.

THE REMNANTS OF GRACE HAVE ESSENTIALLY LOST THEIR TROPICAL
CHARACTERISTICS. HOWEVER...THE INTERACTION OF WHAT IS LEFT OF
GRACE WITH THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE THE
THREAT OF HEAVY RAIN OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. RAINFALL
AMOUNTS OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE OVER
PORTIONS OF THE TENNESSEE AND OHIO RIVER VALLEYS...ESPECIALLY ON
THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF THE STORM. PLEASE REFER TO NATIONAL AND
LOCAL FORECAST STATEMENTS AND BULLETINS FOR FURTHER INFORMATION
CONCERNING THE RAINFALL THREAT.
