November 2001 gridded QPF verification statistics of 6-hour
forecasts for all the RFC domains are now available. Comparison plots
are in the making and are being posted to the site now. Check the new
link (on main NPVU page) to see a listing of data availability.

We noticed that when statistics were done for multi-month periods (e.g.,
the warm season statistics from April 2001-September 2001), interval
distribution plots were sometimes not created correctly when there were
more than 1 million points in a given interval. Thus, the appropriate
programs were modified to accomodate plotting more points, and these
plots are now available for the multi-month period April 2001-September
2001. Please note that these "modifications" in NO WAY affect the actual
statistics (and associated bar graphs), but were only done to correct
the minor plotting problem involved with the interval distributions. |

Warm season statistics for April 2001-September 2001 are now available
for all RFCs. |
| 8 November 2001: |
October 2001 gridded QPF verification statistics of 06-hour
forecasts for all RFC domains are now available. Day 3 statistics
for the Western RFCs (CBRFC, CNRFC, NWRFC) are now available again,
as the HPC has started its Day 3 6-hourly precipitation forecasts for
the cold season. CAUTION: QPF
verification statistics may be suspect due to potential problems with
gridded precipitation analyses in frozen precipitation situations

September 2001 gridded QPF verification statistics of 06-hour
forecasts for all RFC domains are now available. |

August 2001 gridded QPF verification statistics of 06-hour
forecasts for all RFC domains are now available. The revised
statistics for CBRFC and CNRFC from November 2000 through July 2001
are now complete. Methods have been implemented to ensure that QPF
updates from the Western Region RFCs are not included in the
verification statistics from now on. |

We are in the process of correcting statistics for CBRFC and CNRFC from
July 2001 back through November 2000. The revised statistics will be
done starting with the most recent time (July 2001) and work backward
from there. We expect to have all corrections completed within the next
week or two. In addition, we have since found previously missing QPF
data for CBRFC and missing QPE data for CNRFC from April 2001, thus these
"found" entries have been noted in the data log. |

July 2001 gridded QPF verification statistics of 06-hour
forecasts for all RFC domains are now available. Measures have been
taken to ensure that QPF updates from the WR RFCs do not get included
into the verification statistics; these measures are not perfect
however. Corrected statistics for the CBRFC and CNRFC domains back
to Nov. 2000 will be available shortly. Comparison plots for July
2001 are also available. |

June 2001 gridded QPF verification statistics of 06-hour forecasts
for all RFC domains are now available, except for CBRFC and CNRFC.
Measures are being taken to ensure that QPF updates from the WR RFCs
do not get included into the verification statistics. Corrected
statistics will be available shortly. Also, statistics are now
available for multi-month time periods, such as Oct. 2000 to Mar. 2001
and Apr. 2001 to Jun. 2001. Comparison plots for June 2001 are also
available. |

NPVU RFC Data Archive Page initially launched! The only type of
data available at present are the Quantitative Precipitation Estimates
(QPE). Other types of data will be added when server capacities are
