65W. A SHORT WAVE TROUGH OVER ECUADOR/SOUTHERN COLOMBIA IS
PRESSING AGAINST THIS AXIS. RIDGE ALOFT IS VENTING DEEP CONVECTION
ACROSS NORTHERN SOUTH AMERICA...WITH MOST INTENSE ACROSS THE
GUIANAS/ NORTHERN PARA IN BRASIL IN ASSOCIATION WITH A TROPICAL
WAVE. SOUTH OF THE EQUATOR...SCATTERED SHALLOW CONVECTION PREVAILS
ACROSS NORTHERN AMAZONAS AND PORTIONS OF PARA TO SOUTHERN
COLOMBIA/NORTHERN JUNGLE OF PERU.

AT 250 HPA...THE SOUTHERN POLAR HAS ITS ENTRANCE AT 51S
120W...THEN ALONG 58S 120W...63S 101W...63S 89W...60S 76W...56S
61W...51S 55W...EXITING AT 44S 51W. IT REFORMS AT 41S 43W...ALONG
45S 32W...A 142KT MAXIMUM AT 49S 22W...AND 51S 10W. THE NORTHERN
POLAR HAS A FINGER BETWEEN 36S 53W AND 37S 42W. IT HAS ANOTHER
FINGER BETWEEN 26S 48W AND 27S 34W. THE SUBTROPICAL JET HAS ITS
ENTRANCE AT 18S 92W...ALONG 23S 86W...28S 78W...27S 70W...EXITING
AT 23S 63W. IT REFORMS AT 20S 59W...ALONG 21S 54W...21S
46W...EXITING AT 20S 37W.

AT 200 HPA...A TROUGH EXTENDS BETWEEN 100W-80W TO 20S WHILE
CENTERING ON A CLOSED LOW AT 43S 95W. A RIDGE LIES TO THE
EAST...WITH AXIS NORTH-TO-SOUTH ALONG 70W TO 55S. DOWNSTREAM FROM
THIS AXIS...A BROAD TROUGH EXTENDS ACROSS THE SOUTH PACIFIC...AS
IT BOUNDS BETWEEN 55W-20W AND TO THE SOUTH OF 30S. A SHORT WAVE
TROUGH OVER SOUTHEAST BRASIL IS PHASING WITH THIS AXIS.

AT LOW LEVELS...A BROAD TROUGH ON THE NORTHERN STREAM MEANDERS OFF
THE SOUTHERN/CENTRAL COAST OF CHILE WHILE CENTERING ON AN OCCLUDED

94W...AND 26S 100W. EAST OF THIS AXIS...A RIDGE LIES ACROSS THE
SOUTHERN CONE OF SOUTH AMERICA WHILE CENTERING ON A 1033 HPA HIGH
AT 42S 63W. POLAR FRONTS LIE TO THE EAST AND NORTH...WITH ONE THAT
