GFS DATA AT FTPPRD.NCEP.NOAA.GOV/PUB/DATA/NCCF/COM/GFS/PROD/

SYNOPSIS (VALID FROM 00 UTC APR 07): AT 200 HPA...THE SUBTROPICAL
RIDGE DOMINATES FLOW ACROSS THE CONTINENT AS IT CENTERS ON A
CLOSED HIGH OVER MATO GROSSO DO SUL IN BRASIL. THIS IS VENTING
ISOLATED TO SCATTERED CONVECTION ACROSS BRASIL TO THE NORTH OF
15S...WITH CELLS SPREADING ACROSS NORTHERN BOLIVIA TO THE PERUVIAN
JUNGLE. MOST ACTIVE CONVECTION IS BUILDING NORTH OF THE EQUATOR
ALONG THE NEAR EQUATORIAL TROUGH AS IT EXTENDS ACROSS
AMAPA-NORTHERN PARA-RORAIMA IN BRASIL TO SOUTHERN COLOMBIA. A TUTT
BOUNDS THE EASTERN-NORTHERN PERIPHERY OF THE SUBTROPICAL
RIDGE...AS IT EXTENDS ALONG 20S 30W...10S 40W...TO NORTHERN PARA.
THIS IS ENHANCING DIURNAL CONVECTION ACROSS NORTHEAST BRASIL.

THE 250 HPA JET ANALYSIS SHOWS THE SOUTHERN POLAR WITH ENTRANCE AT
53S 99W...ALONG 60S 84W...EXITING AT 61S 64W. IT REFORMS AT 66S
49W...ALONG 59S 44W...A 128KT MAXIMUM AT 54S 37W...EXITING AT 51S
28W. THE NORTHERN POLAR HAS ITS ENTRANCE AT 40S 115W...ALONG 41S
104W...50S 90W...58S 66W...54S 50W...48S 38W...EXITING AT 42S 34W.
THE SUBTROPICAL JET HAS ITS ENTRANCE AT 41S 81W...ALONG 32S
81W...29S 76W....31S 73W...A 130KT MAXIMUM NEAR SANTIAGO DE
CHILE...42S 63W...42S 50W...A 149KT MAXIMUM AT 35S 40W...EXITING
AT 26S 32W.

AT 500 HPA...AMPLIFYING MID/UPPER LEVEL TROUGH NOW EXTENDS BETWEEN
130W-90W TO 34S. THIS IS PRESSING AGAINST A RIDGE TO THE EAST THAT
EXTENDS SOUTH FROM THE SOUTHERN CONE OF SOUTH AMERICA TO THE
ANTARCTIC PENINSULA. NORTH OF THIS RIDGE...IN A SPLIT FLOW
PATTERN...A CLOSED LOW NEAR 37S 77W ANCHORS A TROUGH OFF THE
CENTRAL/NORTHERN COAST OF CHILE. THIS IS SHEARING SHORT WAVE
ENERGY ACROSS THE CENTRAL/NORTHERN ANDES INTO ARGENTINA...WHERE IT
IS PROVIDING THE DYNAMICAL SUPPORT TO ORGANIZED DEEP CONVECTION.
FARTHER EAST...A HIGH AMPLITUDE/LONG WAVE TROUGH EXTENDS BETWEEN
40W-00W AND TO THE SOUTH OF 20S.

AT LOW LEVELS...A RIDGE OVER THE EASTERN PACIFIC CENTERS ON A 1025
HPA HIGH AT 30S 95W. ANOTHER RIDGE TO THE EAST...OVER THE SOUTH
ATLANTIC...ALSO CENTERS ON A 1025 HPA HIGH AT 43S 56W. A TROUGH
SEPARATES THESE RIDGES AS IT EXTENDS ALONG THE COAST OF
CHILE...WHILE CENTERING ON A 1010 HPA LOW AT 37S 79W. AN ELONGATED
POLAR FRONT TO THE SOUTH LIES ALONG A 1012 HPA LOW AT 43S
24W...41S 25W...41S 35W...A 1010 HPA LOW AT 46S 39W...47S
46W...52S 59W...51S 77W...A 1006 HPA LOW AT 49S 86W...47S 87W...A
1002 HPA LOW AT 48S 92W...AND 37S 93W. ANOTHER FRONT TO THE NORTH
EXTENDS FROM A 1006 HPA LOW AT 35S 26W...30S 30W...29S 36W...
EASTERN URUGUAY/BUENOS AIRES...A 1014 HPA LOW AT 38S 66W...TO
MENDOZA IN ARGENTINA. THIS SUSTAINS SCATTERED DEEP CONVECTION
ACROSS LA PAMPA-NEUQUEN IN ARGENTINA. A SQUALL LINE TO THE NORTH
EXTENDS FROM NORTHERN URUGUAY/ENTRE RIOS IN ARGENTINA TO NORTHWEST
PROVINCES...SUSTAINING ORGANIZED DEEP CONVECTION.
