SHOWS A RIDGE OVER THE CONTINENT THAT EXTENDS NORTH-TO-SOUTH ALONG
THE ANDES AS IT ORIGINATES ON A CLOSED HIGH OVER NORTHERN JUNGLE
OF PERU. A SHORT WAVE TROUGH LIES TO THE EAST...WITH AXIS
NORTHWEST FROM SAO PAULO/RIO DE JANEIRO...ALONG 10S 50W...TO THE
SOUTHERN GUIANAS. AS THE RIDGE-TROUGH INTERACT...SCATTERED DEEP
CONVECTION IS BUILDING ACROSS PARA-AMAZONAS IN BRASIL TO SOUTHERN
AMAZONIA IN VENEZUELA AND PORTIONS OF COLOMBIA.

THE 250 HPA JET ANALYSIS SHOWS THE SOUTHERN POLAR WITH ENTRANCE AT
54S 94W...ALONG 59S 71W...52S 57W...43S 44W...A 135KT MAXIMUM AT
47S 24W...AND 52S 09W. THE NORTHERN POLAR HAS ITS ENTRANCE AT 31S

THE SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS A TROUGH OVER THE EASTERN PACIFIC THAT
EXTENDS FROM AN OCCLUDED 998 HPA LOW AT 42S 86W...A 1002 HPA LOW
AT 42S 82W...40S 78W...34S 79W...28S 84W...AND 21S 93W.
DOWNSTREAM... OVER THE SOUTH ATLANTIC...A BROAD TROUGH DOMINATES
THE FLOW. POLAR FRONTS REVOLVE AROUND THIS AXIS...WITH ONE THAT
EXTENDS FROM AN OCCLUDED 980 HPA LOW AT 48S 36W...A 988 HPA LOW AT
47S 33W...43S 31W...39S 37W...36S 46W...BUENOS AIRES TO CENTRAL
ARGENTINA. A RIDGE TO THE SOUTH CENTERS ON A 1017 HPA HIGH AT 39S
56W. ANOTHER FRONT LIES TO THE NORTH...WITH AXIS ALONG A 1014 HPA
