WEST-TO-EAST ALONG 10S/13S BETWEEN 110W-40W. THE RIDGE ANCHORS ON
A CLOSED HIGH OVER THE SOUTHERN JUNGLE OF PERU. THIS IS VENTING
SCATTERED CONVECTION ACROSS AMAZONAS-ACRE IN BRASIL TO NORTHERN
PERU-SOUTHERN COLOMBIA. A SHORT WAVE TROUGH LIES TO THE
NORTH...WITH AXIS ALONG 10S 40W...A LOW AT 04S 45W TO NORTHERN
PARA. THIS IS ENHANCING SHALLOW CONVECTION ACROSS PERNAMBUCO-RIO
GRANDE DO NORTE IN BRASIL.

AT 250 HPA...THE SOUTHERN POLAR HAS ITS ENTRANCE AT 37S 89W...WITH
AXIS ALONG 36S 84W...A 128KT MAXIMUM AT 38S 72W...42S 64W...45S
58W...A 127KT MAXIMUM AT 43S 48W...EXITING AT 42S 43W. THE
NORTHERN POLAR LIES ALONG 25S 120W...A 149KT MAXIMUM AT 28S

THIS IS FOCUSING SHORT WAVE ENERGY ACROSS SOUTHERN CHILE/PATAGONIA
IN ARGENTINA AND CENTRAL PORTIONS OF CHILE. A SHORT WAVE RIDGE
EXTENDS FROM SOUTHERN BRASIL TO 50S 60W. ANOTHER RIDGE EXTENDS
FROM 60S 50W TO THE WEDDELL SEA...WHILE NORTH OF THIS AXIS A
CLOSED LOW NEAR 51S 44W EXTENDS A SHORT WAVE TROUGH TO 33S 35W.

AT LOW LEVELS...THE SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS A BROAD RIDGE OVER THE
SOUTH PACIFIC THAT CENTERS ON A 1037 HPA HIGH AT 36S 117W. EAST OF
THIS AXIS...A POLAR FRONT ON THE NORTHERN STREAM EXTENDS FROM A
1014 HPA LOW AT 37S 84W...ALONG A 1012 HPA LOW AT 40S 83W...35S
