SYNOPSIS (VALID FROM MARCH 30 AT 00UTC): NORTH OVER THE
CONTINENT...AT 200 HPA...THE UPPER FLOW SPLITS BETWEEN A CELL OF
THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE AND A TUTT TO THE NORTH. THE RIDGE EXTENDS
FROM PERU/WESTERN BRASIL TO ESPIRITO SANTO/RIO DE JANEIRO...WHILE
ANCHORING ON A CLOSED HIGH NEAR 14S 57W. THE TROUGH TO THE

SOUTHERN GUIANAS/RORAIMA IN BRASIL. THESE COMBINE IN SUPPORT OF
ORGANIZED CONVECTION OVER THE CONTINENT TO THE NORTH OF 10S...WITH
MOST ACTIVE CLUSTERING ACROSS AMAZONAS-ACRE IN BRASIL-SOUTHERN
COLOMBIA TO NORTHERN PERU.

THE 250 HPA JET ANALYSIS SHOWS THE SOUTHERN POLAR WITH 53S
120W...52S 91W...EXITING AT 59S 78W. THE NORTHERN POLAR LIES ALONG
A 131KT MAXIMUM AT 50S 117W...48S 102W...EXITING AT 47S 88W. IT
REFORMS AT 43S 66W...ALONG A 131KT MAXIMUM AT 48S 54W...48S
35W...EXITING AT 40S 33W. THE SUBTROPICAL JET HAS ITS ENTRANCE AT
39S 101W...ALONG 36S 86W...34S 71W...42S 58W...EXITING AT 45S 48W.
IT REFORMS AT 22S 72W...ALONG 25S 57W...A 132KT MAXIMUM AT 31S
36W...A 162KT MAXIMUM AT 32S 18W...AND A 163KT MAXIMUM AT 34S 08W.

AT 500 HPA...BROAD TROUGH ON THE SOUTHERN STREAM EXTENDS BETWEEN
110W-75W AND TO THE SOUTH OF 44S...WHILE ANCHORING ON A CLOSED LOW
AT 68S 97W. A SKEWED RIDGE TO THE NORTH AND EAST EXTENDS FROM
SOUTHERN CHILE...ACROSS THE DRAKE PASSAGE TO THE ANTARCTIC
PENINSULA. THIS UNDERCUTS A TROUGH TO THE NORTH THAT EXTENDS FROM
54S 58W...ACROSS NORTHERN PATAGONIA TO A STRONG CYCLONIC MAXIMA
OFF THE CENTRAL COAST OF CHILE. THERE IS ALSO A SHORT WAVE TROUGH
ON THE NORTHERN STREAM THAT EXTENDS FROM NORTHWEST URUGUAY TO
CHACO PARAGUAYO...FOCUSING SHORT WAVE ENERGY INTO THE SOUTHERN
STATES OF BRASIL.

AT LOW LEVELS...THE SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS A BROAD TROUGH ON THE
SOUTHERN STREAM OVER THE SOUTHEAST PACIFIC...WITH AXIS ANCHORING
ON AN OCCLUDED 958 HPA LOW AT 68S 94W. A POLAR FRONT REVOLVES
AROUND THIS AXIS AS IT EXTENDS ALONG A 968 HPA LOW AT 72S
86W...71S 72W...A 970 HPA LOW AT 67S 74W...63S 72W...A 988 HPA LOW
AT 58S 75W...52S 81W...AND A 1014 HPA LOW AT 48S 93W. A RIDGE TO
THE NORTH CENTERS ON A 1029 HPA HIGH AT 38S 93W. FARTHER EAST...A
TROUGH OVER THE WESTERN ATLANTIC ANCHORS ON A 986 HPA LOW AT 54S
